Day 8: Cottonwood AZ to Flagstaff AZ

Well today was the last day of our first week of riding and I am really ready for the rest day tomorrow! Riding consecutive days and especially those few in the Mojave heat have taken a bit of a toll. Michele and I are really looking forward to a relaxing day in Flagstaff tomorrow.

Today we rode:
48.14 miles
4 Hr 11min
5883 feet of climbing
11.5 mph average

This is probably the most scenic area in AZ; a place Michele and I have frequented with the kids many times. It was fun to experience it from a different point of view this time. If you never have been to Sedona, put it on your do-list. During the climb from Sedona to Flagstaff, I really enjoyed the smell of the pine trees and other plant and flowers I could not recognize. Fantastic!! Now if that persistent huffing and puffing would quiet down I might be able to hear the surroundings also.

We're off to dinner now....talk to you soon.

Group breakfast at 6:00AM
The red rock along the way is even more brilliant in person

'Snoopy Rock' in Sedona. Can you find him??

Climbing, and climbing from Sedona to Flagstaff. Beautiful!!

From the Viewpoint Summit: Approx 6300 feet altitude. See the road we climbed - center/left of picture. Notice the edge of the switchbacks lower-right edge.

The Switchbacks.....5-9% grade and about two miles long. I was really happy to get to the top of this grade!!!

Here is a map and profile view of the route.
